WE ARE OCEAN_Blaupause Hessen

The first WE ARE OCEAN_Blaupause project of 2026 will travel to Darmstadt, Hessen. During three days, the students of the Mornewegschule, together with the artist Michelle-Marie Letelier, and the scientist Dr. Jan Seger (Senckenberg Museum Frankfurt), will explore artistically fish mucus, inland waters, and the ocean.

Join us on the 19th of March at the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt am Main (Room E.032 at Jügelhaus, Mertonstraße 17) for the final presentation of the project.

The event begins at 2 pm with an introduction by the curator Anne-Marie Melster.

This will be followed by a fishbowl discussion with:

  • the 9th grade students of the Mornewegschule Darmstadt
  • Michelle-Marie Letelier (artist)
  • Dr. Jan Steger (marine biologist, Senckenberg Museum)
  • Cara Meffert (Okeanos Foundation for the Sea)
  • Anne-Marie Melster
  • Prof. Dr. Anabel Ternès von Hattburg (futurologist and entrepreneur)

The open discussion will explore the concerns of the young students regarding climate change, ocean protection and their life. How can they protect the ocean, which spans the globe and plays a central role in the Earth’s climate system, while living in a land-locked city like Darmstadt?

A big “thank you” goes to our funders Okeanos Foundation, Bürgerstiftung Darmstadt and Entega Stiftung! Your support makes the project come to life!
