Environmental Activist and Social Scientist, Tanzania
Shamim Wasii Nyanda is a 25-year-old environmental activist and social scientist. She is the founder of Doors of Hope Foundation, a youth-led organization working on climate change education, ocean conservation advocacy, WASH, and youth and women empowerment. She also serves as the ECOP Tanzania Node Coordinator and is pioneering the establishment of the Tanzania Ocean Climate Innovation Hub, part of the Global Ecosystem for Ocean Solutions Program under Ocean Visions.
She is a former YOUNGO (Children and Youth Constituency under the UNFCCC) Climate Finance Academy delegate (2022), a TEDx Youth Speaker, and a Global Landscape Forum Social Media Ambassador. Shamim is also a member of the International Youth Advisory group to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as a Tanzanian youth female delegate at COY17 and COP27 in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, as well as COY18 and COP28 in Dubai Expo City.
She is also on the Board of Youth to The Resilience Project and the founder of the Trees for Birthdays Initiative.
