WE ARE OCEAN Global Program UNESCO Endorsement

We are honoured and proud to announce that our WE ARE OCEAN Global Program has been endorsed by UNESCO as a UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2021-2030 Action.

We received the letter by Vladimir Ryabinin, the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission in October with these words: “Please accept my sincere congratulations for this achievement. Let me also thank you for your engagement and commitment to the Ocean Decade vision of the science we need for the ocean we want.”

After three intense years of putting together the content, network, partners and funds and starting the first series of projects in Berlin/Brandenburg, Marseille, Venice and Vancouver (all of them already part of the UN Ocean Decade Preparatory Phase), we were now confirmed by UNESCO in our vision that interdisciplinary and participatory art-science-education projects are important to turn the boat around for the protection of the ocean.
