This activity was part of the project WE ARE OCEAN / WIR SIND MEER BERLIN, an official contribution to the Preparatory Phase of the UN Decade for Ocean Science and Sustainable Development (2021-2030). It was kindly supported by IASS Potsdam, STADT UND LAND Wohnbauten Gesellschaft mbH, the Stiftung Berliner Sparkasse, the Fonds Soziokultur, Deutsche Postcode Lotterie, Alfred-Wegener-Institut, The Future Ocean, The Lighthouse Foundation Kiel and 50Hertz.

Description

In Berlin and Brandenburg, ARTPORT_making waves commissioned the artist Lisa Rave to carry out special art workshops (“WE ARE THE MEER BERLIN”) at selected schools (Barbara-Zürner-Oberschule Velten, Schule am Berlinickeplatz Berlin, Montessori Gesamtschule Niederbarnim) for students between 13 and 17 Years. First stage: With the support of the scientist Oscar Schmidt from IASS Potsdam and the curators Julia Moritz and Anne-Marie Melster, the artist spoke about the subject of ocean and our dependence on it and produced an art film together with the students as part of the workshops . This artistic initiative led to participatory, performance-like interventions that were shown in September and October at the Marine Regions Forum 2019 and the Futurium in Berlin.

Zusammenfassung

In Berlin und Brandenburg hat ARTPORT_making waves die Künstlerin Lisa Rave beauftragt, spezielle Kunstworkshops („WIR SIND DAS MEER BERLIN“) an ausgewählten Schulen (Barbara-Zürner-Oberschule Velten, Schule am Berlinickeplatz Berlin, Montessori Gesamtschule Niederbarnim) für Schüler zwischen 13 und 17 Jahren auszurichten. Erste Stufe: Mit der Unterstützung des Wissenschaftlers Oscar Schmidt vom IASS Potsdam und den Kuratorinnen Julia Moritz und Anne-Marie Melster hat die Künstlerin über das Thema Ozean und unsere Abhängigkeit von ihm gesprochen und als Teil der Workshops einen Kunstfilm gemeinsam mit den Schüler*innen produziert. Diese künstlerische Initiative führte zu partizipativen performanceähnlichen Interventionen, die im September und Oktober am Marine Regions Forum 2019 und am Futurium in Berlin gezeigt wurden.
