Inviting you to our community of ocean action supporters!
Dear ARTPORT community,
Since the beginning of ARTPORT, we have been focusing on climate and ocean education internationally. Bringing together art and science for education of all generations, to prepare for the effects of climate change, to live more sustainably and to better protect the earth and the ocean: that was always our concern. We want to develop solutions at the beginning of the chain, not at the end. We want to prevent toxins from entering our lives in the first place, whether plastic, other products based on fossil substances or unnecessary medicines, processed foods. And this can best be conveyed through interactive art projects, in which scientists participate in the content alongside artists and curators. Whether Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Honduras, Spain or Canada: our younger and older participants are always enthusiastic, no matter where in the world. And last but not least we have the mandate of IOC-UNESCO, since we have been endorsed for the UN Ocean Decade with the WE ARE OCEAN Global Program from 2021 to 2030. Since 2019, we have been able to establish a strong network of partners from all areas and countries via WE ARE OCEAN. You can find them all here
To continue bringing our interdisciplinary approach to Ocean Literacy to schools around the world and empowering youth, we now need your help.
We have some great projects planned for next year:
1. WE ARE OCEAN Blaupausen
From 2025, we will be bringing the ocean conservation and education program WE ARE OCEAN to every federal state in Germany with our new project series “Blueprints”. With the following artists: Michelle-Marie Letelier, Tue Greenfort, Riikka Tauriainen, Susanne Kriemann with strong scientific partners and funders co-curated by Julia Moritz and Anne-Marie Melster.
2. WE ARE OCEAN_Nice_Raconter la Mer
With French artist Morgane Ganault and the Musée d’Art Moderne et d’art Contemporain at the Collège Jules Romains in Nice, France. We will work with the artist and various scientific partners on the topic of rivers and the Mediterranean as part of the Third UN Ocean Conference UNOC in Nice next year,
3. WE ARE OCEAN_Brazil_COP30
We will also participate as official observers at COP30 in Brazil and will create an art and science program with Brazilian partner organisations for and with the local population. More on this in the new year.
